At My Able Mind, our mission is to provide personalized psycho-educational assessments that are easily accessible and comprehensive. We believe that every individual has unique strengths and challenges, and we work diligently to help students understand the "why" behind their learning challenges in order to help them achieve their full potential.
With over a decade of experience as a Licensed Educational Psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist, I bring extensive expertise across various educational levels, from preschool to transitional years. My Able Mind was founded to offer comprehensive, compassionate support for unique learners and to assist families throughout the process.
We provide a variety of assessments to support learners at every stage of their educational journey. Our specialties include evaluations for Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, and more. Committed to ensuring that all students have access to timely and insightful assessments, we offer both in-person and virtual testing options.
A psycho-educational evaluation provides a comprehensive assessment of your child’s cognitive, behavioral, and learning profile, addressing your specific concerns and questions. This in-depth assessment allows parents and educators to get the best understanding of the child's unique profile and its impact on their learning. Psycho-educational testing uncovers the source of many learning challenges, including ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia or Dyscalculia. We aim to look at the reason why you child may be struggling, and uncover how they can best be supported.
Conducting a learning disability screener for your child can provide valuable insights into their academic challenges and strengths. This early evaluation helps identify specific areas where your child may be struggling, such as reading, writing, or math, and allows for targeted interventions to support their learning needs. By pinpointing potential learning disabilities early, you can work with educators and specialists to develop a tailored plan that addresses these challenges, thereby enhancing your child’s educational experience and overall academic performance. Early identification and support can significantly improve your child’s ability to succeed in school and build confidence in their learning abilities.
Cognitive and IQ tests offer a detailed assessment of your child's abilities, whether to gain a deeper understanding of a gifted child's strengths or to support private school admissions. These assessments provide valuable insights that help parents effectively support and nurture their child's potential. Additionally, they can improve the likelihood of a successful admission process by ensuring that the educational environment aligns with your child's unique capabilities.

Autism is a multifaceted developmental condition that can influence communication, social interaction, restrictive and repetitive behaviors, as well as cognitive, sensory, and learning processes in both school and home environments. While the characteristics of autism can vary widely among individuals, early diagnosis and intervention can have a profound and lasting positive impact.

Consultation is available to help guide and educate parents in understanding and addressing various learning difficulties, including working closely with families to ensure your child’s needs are accurately identified and met. This may include helping to facilitate effective communication with teachers and school administrators, advocate for appropriate accommodations or modifications, and develop personalized strategies to support your child’s academic and emotional well-being, ultimately fostering a more supportive and nurturing environment for their growth and success.

Depending on the type of assessment, you can expect to have a report in hand within 2-4 weeks from start to finish. The assessment process will start with an intake and interviews with parents and teachers. Following this, we will schedule 1-2 sessions with your child, typically lasting between 2-4 hours. Once testing is completed, a report will be provided within 7-10 days. We will set aside time to review this report with you and educational partners in your child's life.
We work with preschool through transition age children and young adults (3 to 22 years old).
Yes, we can provide diagnoses, but our assessments go beyond simply identifying a condition. They offer a comprehensive view of your child’s learning profile, helping you understand their unique needs and access the most effective support. While some families seek a diagnosis to secure services, our emphasis is on a strengths-and-needs approach to foster a more holistic understanding.
We will schedule an intake with your family, which will include background information and an interview. A packet will be sent to your home with testing materials, and the student will open it with the assessor once starting the evaluation. The student will spend between 2-4 hours with the assessor in a face to face online platform, with breaks as necessary. Once assessments are completed, a report will be completed and reviewed with your family within two weeks.
We are nationally certified, allowing us to conduct virtual assessments across the entire US. For in-person assessments, we are available in Southern California.
I understand that each child's situation and needs are unique to them. We would love to schedule a free phone call to discuss your goals and provide additional information to see if My Able Mind is a good fit for your family.
